Advent 2020: The Privilege and the Promise by Anntoinette McEntyre

“Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.”

-Psalm 27:3

9th Day After Christmas

The Privilege and the Promise

It's a privilege to see another day, and we are living the promise to get it done because he lives in us. Recently my family went through, and is still going through, deep family change. This impact has rocked us to the core and has brought family and friends to show up in the most impactful ways. The roller coaster of emotions when you are praying for a family member is daunting.

This experience has reassured and taught me that it is essential for people to have a spiritual foundation. It is essential to surround myself with prayer warriors. It is essential to show vulnerability, ask for help and grow. As my family prays for our loved ones impacted, and adjust to this new way of life, we must pray. Unless you have a positive trust in a power greater than yourself, the future will be filled with uncertainty for you.

I'm so grateful to have faith that this will all be ok. Like never before, people are worried and anxious about what the future holds. His master plan will still be carried out. Just place your trust in Him and meet the future with the serenity He will give you.

Prayer

Lord, I will be confident. Amen

Advent 2020

Join us in a time of reflection, anticipation, and contemplation during the season of Advent 2020.

Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you to hear the words of those reflecting, anticipating, and contemplating with you in community as we thank God for what God has done, notice what God is actively doing and anticipate what God will do next.

Read along with us each day or download the book to read and write along with us offline. Chart and journal for yourself what God has done, what God is doing, and what God is illuminating for you in this season.
