“Wash yourself, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil, learn to do well. Seek justice, reprove the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. ”

A Clean World - A Clean Heart
We continue to battle the virus that has engulfed our space since 2019, origin still unknown. The virus now emulates and recreates itself into other new diseases. Instructions to wash our hands and sanitize our spaces became a global ritual.
From Africa to Australia, folks are habitually cleaning their houses, offices, cars, and everything else. In the United States, local governments educate residents as to what they need to do to avoid the Covid virus. Sales of hand sanitizers have doubled a thousand-fold. Cleaning contracts are in high demand. Gloves and masks are part of daily attire.
What would the world look like if we all have clean hearts, love, and care about each other more? I’m convinced God will be delighted that we are following one of His great commands: Love thy self and thy neighbor. As we anticipate the birth of our savior, we ought to maintain a clean environment and more importantly, a clean heart.
Prayer
Eternal and merciful God, thank you for the knowledge to develop a vaccine that protects us from dangerous viruses. In the name of Jesus Christ our savior, we ask for clean hearts, to love ourselves and one another. Amen

Advent 2021
Join us in a time of reflection, expectation, and contemplation during the season of Advent 2021.
Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you to hear the words of those reflecting, anticipating, and contemplating with you in community as we thank God for what God has done, notice what God is actively doing and anticipate what God will do next.
Read along with us each day or download the book to read and write along with us offline.
