“I am the Lord’s servant.May it be unto me as you have said.”

Chosen
God has chosen many ordinary people to do extraordinary things, but none of the magnitude of what He chose Mary to do - to be the vessel through which the MESSIAH would come into the world. Mary was bequeathed to Joseph when the angel Gabriel appeared and told her that she was to bear a son and name him JESUS. When Mary said that she had no husband, the angel said that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and overshadow her.
That news brought both blessings and problems. There was a threat of divorce from Joseph before he was assured that Mary’s conception was of the Holy Spirit. There was the long trip to Bethlehem where Mary gave birth in a stable. The shepherds revealed that angels had announced the birth of the MESSIAH. Wise men brought wonderful gifts. King Herod attempted to kill the baby; so there was a hurried trip to Egypt to escape him. Finally, the family returned to Nazareth after Herod’s death to begin a normal life. Throughout it all, Mary, though just a teenager, displayed deep faith, strength and obedience to God’s will.
Is God calling you to do something ordinary or maybe something magnificent? Will you respond as Mary did?
Prayer
