"We have turned our backs on our God. We know how unfair and oppressive we have been, carefully planning our deceitful lies. Our courts oppose the righteous, and justice is nowhere to be found. Truth stumbles in the streets, and honesty has been outlawed…"

Evil Men Do
These are perilous times as history repeats itself. Our political environment is toxic, polluting life. It is most unfortunate that a LIE is now the truth.
Those who are seeking the coming of the Messiah are called to live a Christ-like example. Psalm 45:6, “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, God, your God, has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on your robes.”
As we await the Messiah, be encouraged by Isaiah: 61:1-2, “He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners. He sent me to announce the year of his grace---a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies—and to comfort all who morn, to care for the needs of all who morn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, a message of joy, instead of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit.”
O Holy Spirit and Mighty God, we thank you for life. Give us the strength to confront the evil. Save us from the one who lures us to self-destruction. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen

Join us in a time of reflection, expectation, and contemplation during the season of Advent 2021.
Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you to hear the words of those reflecting, anticipating, and contemplating with you in community as we thank God for what God has done, notice what God is actively doing and anticipate what God will do next.
Read along with us each day or download the book to read and write along with us offline.
