Advent 2021: Jesus is Still the Center of My Joy by Reverend Aisha Karimah

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

-Psalm 51:10

18th Day of Advent

December 15, 2021

Jesus is Still the Center of My Joy

The good news of Advent is the hope, love, joy and peace of the season. It is all wrapped up in the greatest gift of all times, the gift of Jesus. Advent reminds me that even through my trials and tribulations, Jesus is still the center of my joy.

The longer I live, the more I realize it is up to me to live in harmony with others. As difficult as that can be, I believe we must strive to live together peacefully rather than fighting or arguing. Even during the most challenging times, I try hard to remember only love conquers hate. Our love for humanity must be strong enough to help us reject all forms of injustice and oppression. Jesus came breaking shackles and setting us free in spirit, body and mind.

The hope of the season is personal and each of us can share a portion of its everlasting love, joy and peace. Together we should rejoice and embrace the power it brings in the hope, love, joy and peace of the season.

Prayer

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed are they, who take refuge in Him”. Amen.

Advent 2021

Join us in a time of reflection, expectation, and contemplation during the season of Advent 2021.

Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you to hear the words of those reflecting, anticipating, and contemplating with you in community as we thank God for what God has done, notice what God is actively doing and anticipate what God will do next.

Read along with us each day or download the book to read and write along with us offline.
