“Saying, where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.”

Preparation for the Birth of Jesus
Advent: the arrival of a notable person thing or event. The coming of Christ. Preparation, the Birth of Jesus. Celebration of Christ at Christmas.
Christmas is the most exciting time of the year for me. It is the time of the year when we prepare for Jesus’s birth. It is an honor to worship and celebrate Him. His birth brings us gifts of love, hope, peace, and joy. Sometimes Christmas is the only time we gather with family and friends to show love and care. We help others, celebrate with gifts, serve a feast and fellowship. We pray, attend church, and thank God for the birth of Jesus.
I have hope that Jesus will restore normalcy in our lives as He navigates us through this pandemic. This pandemic changed our lives with many losses and many new habits. But I await the coming of Christ with patience to resolve this pandemic and restore peace and joy in our lives. As the star in the east guided the wise men to the birth of Jesus, Jesus will guide us through this pandemic and get us to safety. Faith and trust will prevail.
Prayer
Thank You God for the birth of Your son Jesus Christ and the gifts He brings to us through His birth. Amen.

Advent 2021
Join us in a time of reflection, expectation, and contemplation during the season of Advent 2021.
Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you to hear the words of those reflecting, anticipating, and contemplating with you in community as we thank God for what God has done, notice what God is actively doing and anticipate what God will do next.
Read along with us each day or download the book to read and write along with us offline.
