Jesus in Our Hearts
Recently, I conducted an unscientific survey to see how many people, including myself, wear a cross pendant. I was amazed. Six out of ten Christians wear a cross; for some the cross is publicly displayed and others tuck it under their clothing.
Every Christmas neighbors seem to compete to see whose house has the most decorative lighting. While the utility companies collect more money during the holidays, we tend not to worry too much about the expense until the new year.
Do we really love the Lord or are we superficial? Does the cross we wear compel us to help the homeless, clothe the naked, visit and minister to those who are incarcerated? How often do we see someone who needs help, but turn away? How often do we shower our loved ones with presents during Christmas but can’t afford to donate at the Salvation Army collection booth? Answers to these questions might amaze you.
As we prepare our hearts for the coming of our Savior, let’s do as He has commanded; love and care for one another, forgive each other, and obey the commandments.

Prayer: Eternal and merciful Father, give us new and clean hearts to love one another more and material things less. Grant us wisdom not to act foolishly in preparing our homes with colorful lights but shun people when they ask for help. Prepare our minds and souls to be like Jesus. This we ask in His name. Amen
