“For unto us a child is born, a son is given and the government will be upon His shoulder, And His
name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 NRSVUE
December 11, 2023
As we celebrate this Advent Season, much of the news reports tell of unrest; conflicts in our nation,
nations around the world, division in families, churches, schools, and so much more that is negative.
For peace in the midst of all negative reporting, I have chosen to reflect upon and think of the spiritual
guidance and teachings received over my lifetime. Thus, with a heart of gratitude, I read and meditate
more on God’s Word; and share the good news of Jesus with family, friends and others. The scriptures
clearly explain the love of God and it takes me to another space of thinking of the blessings of His
peace.
Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the scriptures that remind me where my focus should be
during Advent and always.
