Walking with Jesus - The Light of the World
This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. We come now to observe the Christian “Lent season.” We ask that Jesus lead us not 40 days but all 365 days of the year.
We speak of Lent as “giving up” for this period, much of our physical enjoyments of the flesh to take on spiritual endeavors. After that time – we go back to the old ways of greed, lust, mistrust, thrift of character, gratifications of the body – food, mind, and souls. Loving our neighbor as ourselves comes not into the picture of walking in the sunlight of Jesus. The darkness of the world is again over us – it covers the light of His love for the world. Ours must be a walk through the valley of sin and shame when we deny God as the lover of our souls; when we willfully neglect the call of a neighbor, friend, and/or foe. We care not for the plea for mercy from those in need, from whatever circumstance has entered their plight of unhealthy circumstance.
Our resolve during this period of sacrifice and love is to lift high the banner of “Jesus Saves” to everyone. Tell the story of Jesus. Living for Jesus requires a life that is true, and striving to serve Him in all that we do. Be it resolved this day forward, that the spirit of Lent is light, love, peace, and joy.
Prayer
Father, I am determined that I will walk in the light of Your direction, remembering the Life that was given for my salvation.
