In the COVID-19 era, young adults – including those of college-age are facing unprecedented stressors. Uncertainty about the future lost income and social isolation can lead to loneliness, anxiety, and depression and can lead to an increase in alcohol use. The pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on mental health in communities of color, particularly African Americans, with forty-eight percent more likely to report symptoms of anxiety and/or depressive disorder than Non-Hispanic white adults (41%).

FEMA will be reimbursing funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020, to families of coronavirus victims. The program will use funds from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021, which provided the federal agency with $2 billion to reimburse individuals and households for COVID-19-related funeral costs.
