Experience powerful gospel, carols, and spirituals that honor the season’s spirit of hope and joy. Join us for this inspiring musical journey as we mark 48 wonderful years of Advent celebrations. This Sunday we will celebrate with our music and worship arts ministries. We will remember that the "Messiah Comes" through music, movement, song, and prayer. The coming Messiah reminds us that God always disrupts the world as it is. The coming of the Christ is an invitation to participate in a theological and ethical revolution. Join Pastor Lamar in the Pruitt Boardroom at 11:45 am after worship.
A celebration for our beloved Brittany Chanell Johnson and Lucille Knowles will take place on December 8th directly after the service in Douglass Hall as they prepare to depart on their new journeys. We hope to see you there!
Join us as we honor and celebrate the lives of our loved ones during a special Memorial Service on Sunday, December 15th, immediately following the worship service. Together, we will reflect, share memories, and find comfort in community and prayer. All are welcome to attend this meaningful time of remembrance

The Men's Prayer Call is a sacred space where brothers can share and explore their relationship with God in Christ Jesus. All brothers are encouraged to join. The call will be every Monday Morning from 7:30 am – 7:45 am on Zoom.

Train up your child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it. Church School meets each Sunday morning at 8:30 am, and concludes at 10am in Douglass Hall. There are classes available for EVERYONE! We will be excited to see you in attendance!

The Metropolitan AME Veterans Council is a ministry that supports military service members, veterans, and their families by providing information and prayerful support. The Met Dance Ministry has officially begun rehearsals for this year's exciting performances! Our dancers are preparing for the Church School Homecoming and Christmas programs, and we are thrilled to welcome both returning and new students to join us.

For over 40 years, the Love and Peace Unit (LAP) of the Sarah Allen Missionary Society has provided Christmas gifts to children in need. This year, we seek your support to continue this tradition by donating $25 Visa, Walmart, or Target gift cards. Beneficiaries include the Metropolitan AME Food Bank, DC Public Schools, the TrayRon Center, and the Black Student Fund.

The Pearl P. Cook Senior Citizens Club invites you to attend its Christmas event, The Miracle of Christmas, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in Douglass Hall. The Sarah Allen Missionary Society Food Bank of the Metropolitan AME Church announces in-person food bank operations will be held on Saturday, December 21st from 9 am to 3 pm. The SAMS Food Bank is also accepting new food bank recipients. Please see the flyer with a link to sign up for volunteer opportunities with the SAMS Food Bank. Employment Opportunities at Metropolitan AME Church
We are pleased to announce that transportation services will resume on January 5, 2025, after a long hiatus. Starting in January, transportation will be available on the first and third Sundays of each month. Services may be expanded to other Sundays based on the demand. If you are interested in transportation to and from the church, please contact Ellen and Tyrone Fizer at 301-579-2482. We look forward to serving you and helping you get to church with ease!

Metropolitan is a living, breathing monument to what we can do together. Our mothers and fathers envisioned a stately physical presence in the heart of the empire's capital. But they wanted more than a building, they desired a space where people would be built into faithful, fearless followers of the One who still defeats death!
As 2024 closes, will you join me in making a sacrificial gift beyond your tithes and offerings to Metropolitan? I have made my gift of $5,000. I believe in who we are and where we are going.
