Both Noonday and Pastor’s Study on Wednesdays will be on hiatus during the months of July and August. However, we invite you to join us on July 14 at noon for a summer listening series on Howard Washington Thurman and at 7pm for a special bible study with Rev. Dr. Dorsey Blake. Rev. Dr. Shively Smith will guide us through discussions on lectures, prayers, meditations, and writings by Dr. Thurman after we listen to them together. The Zoom link is the same as the Wednesday noonday bible study for the summer listening series and the same as Pastor's study for the Wednesday evening study.

We are delighted that Rev. Dr. Dorsey Blake will be preaching this Sunday at 9:30 am and teaching a special bible study on Wednesday, July 14th at 7 pm. Rev. Blake is the presiding minister of the Church for the Fellowship of All Peoples in San Francisco, California, which was founded by Dr. Howard Thurman. Metropolitan A.M.E. will host Virtual Vacation Bible School the week of July 26-30, 2021 from 7pm - 8 pm each night. The theme for this year's VBS is I've Got This with Jesus. VBS will have classes for ages 3-100+. Sessions will include Bible stories, games, movement, Black History, music, arts and crafts.

Come join us for a week of family fun, fellowship and learning.

We are excited that we will be updating our church database this month. This update will improve communications and the ease of electronic giving. Members will be receiving more information on training opportunities via email.

 

Plan to attend one of several focus groups to discuss upcoming changes in the music and creative arts ministry. The meetings will be held July 17 at 10am, 11:30am, and 1pm. The 10am meeting is for choirs and musicians only. The congregation-wide meetings are 11:30-12:30pm and 1-2pm. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas about this critical aspect of our worship experience. To register for one of the sessions, visit the links below. To ensure that we can hear from as many congregants as possible, please limit your registration to one session.

On Saturday July 17th from 10:30am to 12:00pm, please join Pastor Lamar on Zoom for a community phone outreach workshop to gain insight on the barriers and paths to homeownership. There will be a brief training on the script of questions followed by phone calls to the community.

Metropolitan AME Church’s Young Adult Fellowship has partnered with Empowerment Enterprise II (EE2) to participate in an Opioid Awareness campaign during the month of July. We will join the events on the Thursdays below to learn more about the Opioid epidemic and about opportunities to support those who may be impacted by addiction.
