Pastoral Concerns for the Week of November 8th, 2020

Greetings Metropolitan family and friends,

Thank you to everyone who supported Metropolitan’s “Get Out the Vote” campaign. The theme of voting was integrated into everything we did the last few weeks—from our website to our social media platforms and worship services to Cafe’ Met conversations. Democracy requires action every day, and we commit anew to finding more meaningful ways to worship, liberate, and serve.

Weekday "Meditations with Metropolitan" continue this week from 7-7:15 am Monday through Friday. If you would like to offer a meditation or have prayer requests, email the Morning Meditations Team at prayer.metro1518@gmail.com

Noonday and Pastor’s Study continue this week, and we invite you to join us as we continue our study of Proverbs and Romans.

The Young Adult Innovation Hub of Metropolitan will host its next virtual happy hour on Monday, November 9 from 8-9:30. The theme is “Living Single,” and the goal is to provide a space for young adults (ages 22-40ish) to have a multi-dimensional discussion of singleness. The facilitator is Minister Allyson Felicia Smith. Register using the Eventbrite link below.

The Potomac District Fall Conclave will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday, November 10th and November 11th. Community of Hope AME Church is the virtual host for the workshops and worship. Events will be streamed on Community of Hope’s website, Facebook page, and YouTube. Log-in information for the meeting is below.

The Intergenerational Virtual Cooking Class with Chef Dave is happening on November 16 at 6:30pm. Mark your calendars now, and be sure to add items needed for the menu to this week’s grocery list! The Zoom link for the event is below.

Your giving is a wonderful expression of God’s generosity. As you know, there are three ways to give: via check mailed to Metropolitan AME Church, via credit card on the website, and via text or Cash App. To text to give, text "metro1518" to 73256; our Cash App handle is $MetropolitanAME.

Please be in prayer for all who have experienced loss recently and those who continue to experience grief.

Please continue to pray for health, strength, and healing for Bro. Lacey Flagg, Dr. Mercedes Dickson, Rev. Aisha Karimah, Sister Ruby Joyce, Dr. Charles Curry, Deaconess Mary Burroughs, Deaconess Jeanette Spicer, and Mother Ethel Delaney Lee.

Your faithfulness continues to be a testament to our joy and resilience in these challenging times. We hope you will stay connected with us—daily for morning meditation, on Wednesdays for study, on Saturdays for Cafe MET, and on Sundays for worship.

Grace and Peace,

Bill Lamar
