Pastoral Concerns for the Week of October 25, 2020

Greetings Metropolitan family and friends, It is a joy to greet you digitally. I am grateful for the ways we have stayed connected during these months. I am clear that we are meant to be in community with each other, and I look forward to the days when we can commune together again safely. In the meantime, we continue to pray for our corporate health and wellness.

Noonday and Pastor's Study continue this week. We look forward to seeing you as we study the book of Proverbs at noon and the book of Romans at 7pm. If you have not joined us before, join us this week. We have a wonderful, meaningful time together. You'll be grateful for the fellowship and learning.

Weekday "Meditations with Metropolitan" continue this week from 7-7:15 am Monday through Friday. If you would like to offer a meditation or have prayer requests, email the Morning Meditations Team at prayer.metro1518@gmail.com. If you miss a mediation or have not ever joined the calls, the mediations are available on our YouTube page for your convenience. Take a moment now to subscribe.

The Youth and Family Ministry Fall Retreat series continues this week. We want to invite all of our students 18 and under for engaging discussions and activities. Thank you to all who attended and supported the Back to School Night held last week. We hope to see you Monday at 6:30.

We are less than two weeks away from Election Day and hope that you have already made your voting plan. Let’s do all we can in the coming days to encourage everyone we encounter to cast their vote. Information on early voting and drop off locations throughout the DMV are on our website. Stay tuned, too, for information the election day forums we will be hosting on November 3rd and/or November 4th.

Your giving is a wonderful expression of God’s generosity. As you know, there are three ways to give: via check mailed to Metropolitan AME Church, via credit card on the website, and via text or Cash App. To text to give, text "metro1518" to 73256; our Cash App handle is $MetropolitanAME. Please be in prayer for all who have experienced loss recently and those who continue to experience grief. In particular, we lift up Sis. Rose Marie Elliott and family in the passing of their cousin Susie C. Quash, Judge Aarons in the passing of his cousin Gregory Pierre AaronsSr., and Bro. Wendell Johns in the passing of his brother Charles F. Johns, Jr.

Please continue to pray for health, strength, and healing for Dr. Mercedes Dickson, Rev. Aisha Karimah, Sister Priscilla Ryder, Sister Ruby Joyce, Dr. Charles Curry, Deaconess Mary Burroughs, Deaconess Jeanette Spicer, and Mother Ethel Delaney Lee. Your faithfulness continues to be a testament to our joy and resilience in these challenging times. We hope you will stay connected with us—daily for morning meditation, on Wednesdays for study, on Saturdays for Cafe MET, and on Sundays for worship. Grace and Peace, Bill Lamar
